The Delray, Fla., great-grandmother whose two young great grandkids were found murdered in a beach canal last week is pleading for help with their funeral costs.

At a press conference Wednesday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, grief-stricken Barbara Flint pleaded with the community to help her financially in covering the costs of burying her two grandchildren, Ju’Tyra Allen, 6, and Jermaine McNeil, 10, whose dead bodies were found stuffed in luggage on March 2, floating down a nearby canal (canal pictured below along with Delray police boats).

The children’s mother, Felicia Brown, 25, was also found murdered last August and her badly decomposing corpse was discovered in a county garbage dump. No one has been charged with the three deaths.

According to federal prosecutors, the prime suspect in the killings of all three victims is Clem Beauchamp (pictured in the mugshot below), 34, a boyfriend of Brown’s. The couple had been together since 2007 and Brown’s children lived with him even after she disappeared.

Oddly enough, Brown wasn’t identified until last week, when her two children were found murdered. Brown’s body had the children’s names tattooed on her calf, police said. Beauchamp and Brown had a romantic relationship but broke up months before she was found dead.

Police are investigating Beauchamp as the key suspect in the murder case and have held him since last Thursday on a federal charge, alleging that he possessed an illegal silencer for a handgun in a case dating back to 2009.

Apparently, Brown was a witness against Beauchamp on a gun charge. A U.S. Magistrate judge ruled that Beauchamp, who has a lengthy criminal record, should be held without bail and was not only a flight risk but a danger to the community.

Meanwhile, Flint, who is in dire straits financially, cannot afford to bury her two small great-grandkids and is broken up over her lack of funds:

“This hurts me so bad, I don’t have the words to say,” Flint said wailing, as she was led away by priests.

A memorial service for the three victims is planned for Friday night, with funerals scheduled for Saturday.

It is such a sad state of affairs… first you have the murders of both children and their mother. Second, you have a great-grandmother pleading for financial assistance in burying her relatives. Flint is a woman who is just mired in pain and angst. She has had three close relatives, both children who she helped raise, taken from her, and now she is faced with a huge financial burden.

I totally support the fair and equitable use of capital punishment for those who commit heinous acts, such as evidenced in this case. If Beauchamp is indeed found guilty of murdering the three victims, may his punishment fit the crime.
