After originally being set for a January release, Tyler Perry’s adaptation of Ntozake Shange’s “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf” will now be released on November 5th. Not only do we get to see it sooner, but this later date also makes the film a stronger contender for nominations for Academy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards.

According to a source with Perry’s production company, the performances from Loretta Devine and Anika Noni Rose have the potential to recognized and rewarded. Janet Jackson, Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington, Kimberly Elise, Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad are also featured prominently in “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf,” and there will be cameo appearances from Whoopi Goldberg and Macy Gray.
