Nashville, TN — Dewitt and Kim Jones and their five children, collectively known in the Gospel music world as Forever Jones, are all making the trip to Los Angeles in February, hopefully to pick up a Grammy in one of the two categories for which they’re nominated. The Joneses, who lived in Yakima until 2004, all worked together on the nominated music, after all.

“We had no idea that a Grammy was in our future,” said Kim Jones, who was born and raised in Yakima. “We’re just serving God, loving God, doing what we love to do.”

Jones, whose maiden name is Chappell, grew up singing gospel as did her husband, Dewitt Jones. The couple and their children, D’Jeniele, 24; Dominique, 22; Dewitt, 18; Judah, 17; and Mya, 10, were shocked when the nominations were announced Dec. 1 and their album, “Get Ready,” was nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album. The single “He Wants it All” was nominated for Best Gospel Performance.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” the elder Dewitt said.

The Grammys are Feb. 13.
