On James Fortune’s new CD “Identity” the song “Hold On” has a verse that says, “Know that flowers bloom when rain falls.” I love this verse because it reminds me that the rain in the storms of life is necessary.

There are reasons for rain:

1.  It is after the rain we see the rainbow.

2.  It is after the rain that flowers bloom.

3.  It is after the rain the roots of a tree deepen, so that it can stand stronger.

Therefore:

1. It is after the rain we shine.

2. It is after the rain we see what God has called us to be.

3. It is after the rain we learn to stand strong and move on!

Therefore, when rain falls down on our lives, it’s to help us stand up even stronger!

Philadelphia native Michael J. Woodard is 14-years-old, in the 8^th grade, knows and loves the Lord and is following his dream. Michael J. will be on with CeCe McGhee today at 3pm to talk about his 15-week journey to becoming the winner of season 1 of “Majors and Minors” on the HUB network. As a result of 40,000 audition submissions from kids all over the world, 29 audition finalists , down to the final 12 , see Michael J’s winning moment below:

The visit and performance was arranged by the nationally syndicated news-magazine TV show “Inside Edition.”

Young’s version of “Never Would Have Made It” went viral online in December. After Pastor Sapp saw it, he sent the link to his hundreds of thousands of Facebook and Twitter followers.

Pastor Sapp told his congregation Sunday that, “As much as that song has given me the opportunity to minister, it’s also an opportunity to be ministered to.” This was also a birthday present for Pastor Marvin Sapp who turned forty-five Saturday.

Jesse Young, who is thirty-five-years-old, told the congregation,“If you ask me if this is a dream come true, I say this is a wonderful man (Sapp) who has inspired me because I know what he’s gone through.”

Young’s own life reflects the need for the song’s uplifting message of relying on God’s help in overcoming life’s troubles. Young told church members he was raised in group homes and was a survivor of molestation. His mother suffered a stroke last fall, and days later four gunshots were fired into their home.

Producer Christopher Dukas of “Inside Edition” said the program discovered Young from the video; and said the segment will likely air on the program in the next week or two.

The movie “The Help” just got some more help with the chance of winning an Oscar for “Best Picture” thanks to snagging three awards from the Screen Actors Guild, including Best Cast, Best Actress award for its star Viola Davis, and a Supporting Actress trophy for Octavia Spencer!

Davis thanked her co-star Cicely Tyson, who inspired her as a child and was in the audience. Davis talked of dreaming big as a child when she wanted to become an actress. She encouraged others to do so, too. Davis added, “Dream big and dream fierce!”

Today I received some wonderful Godly counsel from my mentor, Rev. Dr. Eve Fenton. She reminded me that our struggles make us stronger. Just as a butterfly struggles through the transformation that takes place in the cocoon, something beautiful eventually comes out.

Sometimes when we see that struggle we think, “Oh that poor little butterfly” and we naturally want to help. However, if we step in during that struggle, we messed up God’s process. Either the butterfly will die or never learn to fly because we interfered with the struggle. It’s during the struggle the butterfly becomes strong; and soon strong enough to break through the cocoon and fly!

We are the same way. Struggles will come and they will be uncomfortable; sometimes even painful. But it’s our struggles that make us stronger when we don’t give up!
