According to a taxpayer-funded survey of obese teens, the most effective method to treat weight issues is surgery.
Teens with severe obesity are already showing health issues that have previously only been seen in adults. Half the teens in the study had at least four major illnesses including cholesterol problems, high blood pressure, joint pain and diseased livers and kidneys.
Those considered to be severely obese weighed three times more than the average teen.
According to medical professionals, obesity surgery is safe for teens and the best option as lifestyle changes and medication tend not to work.
It seems that teens may do better than adults in this surgery and the effects seem to be very positive for their future.
