Dreams do come true! Today, a 9-year-old African-American girl from Louisiana was nominated for an Academy Award!  Quvenzhane Wallis was nominated for Best Actress for her performance in the movie Beasts of the Southern Wild; which is about a young girl, Hushpuppy, living with her father in an isolated Louisiana swampland. Wallis is the youngest actress ever to be nominated for an Oscar. What an inspiration! Big congrats to her! She is just as cute as a little button. I didn’t see the movie but it won top honors at both the Cannes Film Festival and Sundance.
