At 12:38am eastern standard time, President Barack Obama along side the first family took center stage in Chicago Illinois. Stevie Wonder’s classic tune “Signed Sealed Delivered” ignited the crowd as they prepared for the Presidents post victory speech. The Commander-in-Chief addressed the nation with a much different  tune then that of his 2008 election night speech. The  President’s focus was clearly “people,” he passionately expressed whether you voted for him or not ” I have listened to you, I have learned from you and you made me a better President, with your stories, your struggles, I return to the white house more determined than ever .”

Obama is aware his victory comes with little time for celebration, as he has a lot of work ahead of him. The President charged Americans with their responsibilities as citizens of the United States of America, echoing former president John F. Kennedy’s  famous statement ” ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. The POTUS reminded America that their vote today was the beginning professing, ” that doesn’t mean your work is done the role of citizen does not end with your vote.”

Here is an excerpt from the President’s eloquent speech:

“Tonight, more than 200 years after a former colony won the right to determine its own destiny, the task of perfecting our union moves forward.

It moves forward because of you. It moves forward because you reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over war and depression, the spirit that has lifted this country from the depths of despair to the great heights of hope, the belief that while each of us will pursue our own individual dreams, we are an American family and we rise or fall together as one nation and as one people.”
