Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the family, friends and colleagues of 19-year veteran Philadelphia police officer, Moses Walker Jr. He was shot and killed early this morning on a sidewalk; shortly after leaving work. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey says Walker was off duty when he was walking westbound on Cecil B. Moore Streets, just before 6 a.m. today when he apparently encountered a suspect, or suspects, near 20th Street with a gun.

Walker, 40, was up for retirement this year. He was not married and had no children. He is survived by his mother and five siblings.

According to relatives, he was a deacon at Deliverance Evangelist Church at 20th and West Lehigh Avenue. Therefore, our prayers go out to Pastor Glenn Spaulding, First Lady Rhonda Spaulding and the church family at Deliverance Evangelist Church.

A $20,000 reward has already been posted for information in the officer’s murder. The Fraternal Order of Police offered an additional $10,000 reward.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 215-686-3334 or 3335.
