BOUIE FISHER, one of Philadelphia’s greatest boxing trainers passed at 83 years of age. He was laid to earlier today July 9th 2011 at Deliverance Church in Philadelphia

Fisher has been the Philadelphia boxing scene for decades. He trained with many fighters during his long career however he is best known for training Bernard Hopkins.

Bernard Hopkins, the man he had brought from the streets of North Philadelphia to a world championship. Fisher boxed as an amateur and professionally in the 1940s he also was awarded 2001 Boxing Writers Association of America’s Eddie Futch-John F.X. Condon Award for trainer of the year.

There will never be another Bouie Fisher.
